Alternative Literature Club
We’re introducing an exciting new program at the Lyceum that encourages youth to explore what tend to be “peripheral” forms of literary expression – forms that are garnishing due recognition in the realms of both literature and art! The Alt-Lit Club will appeal to youth who see storytelling as more than just text, who want to explore topics of personal interest through the creation of imaginative projects that play with style, form and content. Participants will push the traditional boundaries of literature through zines, comics, graphic novels and manga, with an emphasis on the interplay of textual and visual elements to convey ideas! Open-ended activities and quality materials will be presented to help youth scaffold their individual projects. This program is designed for youth in middle and high school grades.
