Special Saturday Programs - New to the Lyceum!
The following full day Saturday camps are new to the Lyceum and have been designed in response to interest from the community.
Snacks, juice and water are provided for all campers - please send your child with a water bottle for our outdoor adventures. Also, please alert us if your child has any allergies (food or otherwise).
Exploring the Power of Words, Thought and Imagery through Poetry and Art
This full day camp will begin with a field trip to the beach with a "sighting" journal to record impressions along the way. Upon returning to the Lyceum, participants will be encouraged to work with their impressions and tease out poetic expressions from their observations and feelings. The later part of the afternoon will be reserved for making connections between poetic expressions and artistic expressions using a variety of paint and collage media.

Exploring the Power of Words, Thought and Imagery through Literature and Art
In this workshop, students will be exposed to *sophisticated picture books that explore abstract ideas such as
What is happiness? What is love? and What is important in this life? Participants will have the opportunity to share their individual perspectives and views on these abstract concepts and explore ways to express their insights through a wide variety of art materials. It is our hope that participants leave this session inspired to engage with other abstract ideas.
*The chosen books are not simple picture books, but rather inspiring texts that explore messages relevant to both youth and adults.

Mosaic to Music
Participants in this all-day session are asked to bring a selection of three pieces of music, which will be played throughout the day. Students will receive a memory CD including everyone’s favourite music selections, as well as a patchwork cover created from photographs of their finished pieces. Participants can expect to create a large mirror or picture frame of exceptional quality. Each student will be encouraged to design a pattern and choose the appropriate tiles and glass for bringing their image to life. All materials are included and each student has access to high-end tools and will learn a variety of cutting techniques (curve cuts and long pieces as well as the standard square).

Impacting Your World through Creating a “Vision” Canvas (layering with paint, collage and transfer techniques)
Give form and meaning to your passions, dreams and creative spirit! We have designed this all-day class in the hopes that students will take away a unique and personalized “vision” canvas that will inspire and provoke their creative energies on future learning paths.
