The Masters’ StreamThe Masters’ Stream is designed for those who truly love to write and want to workshop their material with others who share their passion. There are two groups in the Masters’ Stream: the Page Rippers for teens and young adults and Authors’ Night Out, an informal group for adults who are interested in giving and receiving feedback among a community of writers. Page Rippers Each meeting will begin with a writing provocation; writers can then seek out an inspiring place to create in the various writing nooks found throughout the Lyceum. Guidance, editorial assistance and publication pointers will be presented during the workshops. Using a generative approach, Christianne will use questions and concerns brought up by participants to design instructional components for the group and for individual writers over the course of each term. Presentation as an important component of authorship will be emphasized. All genres and writing styles will be celebrated as each member is encouraged to find their individual voice. Participants in the Masters’ Stream may submit selections from their finished writings for consideration in The Lyceum Journal. Come and join us for a unique opportunity to socialize around literature and develop your writing talent. |

A warm, supportive and inspiring environment for new and established authors to workshop their material. Regular attendance is strongly encouraged so that we develop a group identity and build bonds of trust around what is typically a solitary and somewhat isolating activity. Material to be workshopped should be submitted to the Lyceum well in advance of the assigned meeting so that copies can be made and distributed to group members. It is Christianne’s wish that diversity of literary forms and genres be embraced and celebrated by the group.
A glass of wine (or courage-boosting beverage of your choice), light snacks and a literary rich environment will keep the creative juices flowing.

We’re introducing an exciting new program at the Lyceum that encourages youth to explore what tend to be “peripheral” forms of literary expression – forms that are garnishing due recognition in the realms of both literature and art! The Alt-Lit Club will appeal to youth who see storytelling as more than just text, who want to explore topics of personal interest through the creation of imaginative projects that play with style, form and content. Participants will push the traditional boundaries of literature through zines, comics, graphic novels and manga, with an emphasis on the interplay of textual and visual elements to convey ideas! Open-ended activities and quality materials will be presented to help youth scaffold their individual projects. This program is designed for youth in middle and high school grades. | New dates TBA | ||
