Pre-Summer Camps
Snacks, juice and water are provided for all campers - please send your child with a water bottle for our outdoor adventures. Also, please alert us if your child has any allergies (food or otherwise).
In this nature-inspired workshop, we’ll look at butterflies and blossoms in literature and art, then try our hand at identifying the ones we find as we wander through the neighbourhood around the Lyceum. Through books like The Prince of Butterflies, Waiting for Wings, Hurry and the Monarch, Rose’s Garden and Martha Says It With Flowers, we’ll discuss how authors and illustrators find inspiration in the beauty around them. A day of blowing bubbles in the park - a special outing that is reflected in our art projects - rounds out this special five day, pre-summer camp.
Insects in the City

Books are selected to engage your preschooler’s sense of humour and natural interest in the world of insects (and snails)! We will be taking daily trips into the outdoors where children will be encouraged to observe closely their insect neighbours, while developing a respect for each critter’s place in the ecological cycle of life. Children will have the opportunity to work with a variety of media to help them explore ways of representing their observations. Both abstract and realistic expressions will be embraced and supported. * If your child has a fear of creepy crawlies, do not worry as the stories will help break down buggy prejudices.
Make Your Own Journal (and Try it Out!)
June 21 – 24 (four evenings)• 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Before you begin your summer adventures, drop by the Lyceum to create a one-of-a-kind journal to record them in. Spend your days creating the inside pages from scores of beautiful papers, a unique cover to set your journal apart, a pocketful of prompts so you’ll never be without something to write about, and finally work on your first few entries. You’ll have everything you need to get down your dreams, imaginings and memories, whether you spend the summer travelling the world, or in your own backyard.
